Debate competition

                                             DEBATE- TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
                                                            10th OCTOBER 2012

An inter-school debate was organized at Bal Bhawan Public School, Mayur Vihar, Phase-II on 10th October, 2012.  The debate was for different class groups.  The topic of the debate for the middle group i.e. class VI to VIII was ‘Public Participation in Traffic Management can make a Difference’.  The topic of the debate for the secondary group i.e. class IX to XII was ‘Most Accidents are Avoidable’.  As many as 30 schools from all over Delhi participated in the debate.  The language for the debate was both Hindi and English.

2 students each from middle and secondary levels participated from our school. Pragya and Himanshu Vrema spoke for and against the motions.  Each participant was given 4 minutes each to express their views.  The jury comprised of 3 judges from Traffic Department and SIAM.  Students who took part were well versed with their topic.  The young children seem to be very aware and updated about the Traffic Rules, our duties and responsibilities and also our rights.  The contradiction between for the motion participants and against the motion participants was a delight to see.
Where on one side government’s role was being discussed thoroughly on the other side public participation was highlighted.  The proverbs and the idioms were being used by the participants in both the languages.  The environment of the host school was very good and the facilities provided by them were par excellence.   The confidence shown by the participants reflected how the future generation of India thinks about the present scenario.
